People in the comments really hate when a female character has their own will huh??? Yeah sorry she isn’t instantly swept away by a man. If you have read the story so far, she has NO intention of marrying. She already has plans for the future. And now? The plan is going to be disrupted by a new variable. None of those hate comments try to take in the mc’s personality. Borderline misogynistic.

I’m confused at ppl’s response. Did I misunderstand smth. I swear Dalton’s proposal to Pendleton was to be Mistress of the house aka side chick not Lady of the house aka Wife and that’s why she is feeling however she is and shut him out. Which if so is very valid. Imagine not even being considered for wife but mistress and obviously ik that’s not what he meant but it’s what he said and what she heard.

I’m also a girl and damn been hurt by someone, but I always make sure to listen first before I say “I’m sorry I’m way too hurt to accommodate your feelings.”
If she just assume things like that, it’ll be embarrassing if in the future he says “sorry for the misunderstanding, you didn’t let me finish. I didn’t mean it that way. It was just an example because you’re an admirable person. I didn’t know you’d take it like that.”

Even irl, someone deserve to choose her own future. if she have been betrayed before/ any sorts of trauma and her heart is closed, choose to stay single. So then whats the problem?
Why a stranger have to complain about a person life choices?! Its not like you gain disadvantage over someone choices~
Same applied to a character here, her feelings is valid, her action is valid. She feels uncomfortable so she distance herself from the source of it. Why frustrated over these so called “shits” (like someone said) 🙄
Though this is romance story, eventually by the fate they will still end up tgt. But some people criticising on the idea and action of it, as if someone feelings and pain is mere joy is just downright disrespectful. IRL please stop being a busybody meddler as this happened a lot irl
