Ah, okay. I think his mom changed from grief and gave her and Greta space as a kindness. As Ella said, if people found out who Greta was the child of, she would be taken away from her mom and would probably been miserable, so the mom clearly tried to give them space so that didn’t happen. If the mom were really bad tho, she would have just taken Greta.
