It’s reminds me alot of a certain story from game called Durango Ircc there’s a story of survivor in that game that tell similar story. Basically he got teleported to Durango (a place with time anomaly that mix modern and dinosaur/pre historic time) he stuck there for more than five years before he accepted he cannot comeback to his wife and family and move on got married to another survivor of Durango but two years later after his remarriage, his wife also teleported to Durango which just ironic.

You can’t come back and expect to go back to how things were. Why ? We are different from back then, easing into it would be more realistic, start with a friendship etc.
