Actually, the Prince and the Emperor said the exact same thing in earlier in the chapters when discussing the contract, but Adelia was the one that created and insisted to them. She understood she’ll have very lack of freedom but that’s what she wants. She knows how the imperial family feels about the aristocrats that’ll do anything to get one their good side or even be married into the royal family for their own greedy purposes.
Adelia is greedy as well but not like the High lords and ladies they’re used to.
She wants them to feel like they’re in control, if not getting the most benefit of this contract so she can focus on not only saving herself from dying but also revenge.
She wants to destroy and humiliate her family that treated her so poorly while using her light magic to heal herself to live longer.
Now as you’re witnessing here, the royal family adores, if not cherishes Ariana. So, wherever the princess goes or does, they’re instantly right beside her.
Adelia adores Ariana, too, but it does have its draw backs which include every family member invading her personal space whenever Ariana is involved with her.
