To people that think the emperor sucks and shouldn’t be forgiven… You need to understand the perspective. He lost his beloved wife and got a lot of responsabilities and burdens behind. Having a kid and a whole ass empire while fighting against depression (and all that deficient workers not being helpful but causing even more issues). You probably come from a very good family, never seen dysfunctional family, have it all easy as well, never been parents, or never seen your parents enough to notice that people are imperfect and sometimes say words they don’t mean through the emotions. My own parents had told me multiple times things worse than that, my father told me to my face once that I was “ruining their day as usual” and his girlfriend call me manipulative just for saying that I will return home because I didn’t like to be “ruining everyone’s plan” for not feeling well enough to go to a party. After thay he apologized to me and his actions proved to be stronger than that slip of words he said when he was heated in the emotion. This emperor feels to me like a normal human, non stereotype, and so it does Philonen. They are complex and human like characters and that’s why I like it, and as per se you’re free to find it hard to forgive how he treated her and neglected her during all those years, the fact that he did wrong will never change, however, you can’t deny that he has been trying to push forward and he has been letting himself be helped by his daughter and thanks to that he is growing (just as it happens in real life in some dysfunctional families where there’s love and will to understand each other).
