Okay, sorry, but that maid is stupid. I’m sure Tess would feel better about her situation if it meant that she was marrying for the sake of saving her family. But she doesn’t have one. And the only person she cares about was fucked over along with her. She gains nothing in the arrangement and loses everything. That does not compare whatsoever to the maid’s position, so her words don’t bolster anything. What an awful way for anyone to try to make Tess “buck up and deal.” Stupid twat.
