I don’t think the saintess is actually a bad guy. He doesn’t want to be in this world. He’s terrified of defying the so-called fate of the world, since he believes that the god of this world is actively trying to force the novel to progress. His servant, whom he cared for deeply, was fated to lose a leg to a monstrous boar attack, so he kept her safe from that. Only for her to die the very next day from a random assassin. He reached the conclusion that everyone has a fixed fate and defying it only leads to a worse outcome.
That’s WHY he’s trying to convince heather to leave the palace. It’ll reduce the collateral damage if she goes and suffers the fate in store for her, all on her own, elsewhere. She’s already doomed on her own, why drag others in? That’s his POV. Thats why he tries to follow the novel as best as he can. Romancing the asshole, and ensuring all of the other leads fall in love with the right people.
I think he’ll change his tune eventually.

Oh no THEY BOTH got tricked by the saintess. IF the saintess (a guy in the body of a woman) said the same thing to both of them then that means it’s a lie. There’s some sort of manipulation going on here. They CAN be together but the saintess must have done something like a curse on them. It’s gotta be. This saintess is viscous, we saw it in the past chapter where she wanted the wanted the prince but the prince only has eyes for Heather (brown hair girl).
