Still it is unethical to have a beard (a woman who pretends to be your romantic partner to hide that you’re gay) who doesn’t know that she is your beard. And if someone is helping you in this way doing things that worsen their reputation such as skipping the engagement ceremony is trashy behavion especially considering that they are helping you maintain your reputation. Even if it’s unfair to you that society’s homophobia makes you need a beard to protect your reputation it is unfair for her that she needs her husbands attention to not be looked down on due to misogyny. If someone is making a show of your relationship to help you, then do the same for them.
