   @Aruhaha not the dramatic way. He wanted to show the people that he is different from the previous Emperors and the rest of the princes. He wanted to show the people that despite his unmatched martial prowess, he is reluctant to shed blood unnecessarily. Throug this he also reinforced the idea that he is the better choice for Emperor in the minds of the people.
