So this isn’t Joshua’s second life? He’s stuck in a loop of reincarnation. Probably his third or more from the sounds of it. But he doesn’t seem to remember a lot of it which is a blessing compared to other MCs who have their memories and going for loops of revenge.
So if I’m understanding this correct, his first life was as Lucifer and the story that what’s his red-head face fake Lucifer was telling the story was of his first life after the demon god stabbed him in the back with the spear.
So boop. Lucifer’s soul reincarnated as Joshua Sanders. He lived his first life with all that crap … Then poof. Gets a second life and that’s where we are as readers. During his time at the Tower of trials he falls into the mirror to the demon realm and whoosh! His demon energy was up along with some of his memory of being Lucifer.
With the bad guys, it sounds like things in the 1st life as Joshua didn’t go well… So Asmodeus is after the eye thingy to see the future.
