Couldn’t reply for some reason, but I think the forest arc is pretty good, mc has to build an army unrelated to the 7 families, this is all needed for proper progression and more meaningful storyline later on. If not, you’d be complaining later, like, why are the barbarians helping someone who used to kill and hunt them? Plus I’m sure that saving Pomeranian will be the cause of something unexpected later also
