In another life, perhaps they could have been friends, or even a great-great-grandmother who helped raise the empire with her magical abilities. Anita was deprived of much, yet she caused the deaths of many people in retaliation. However, the old emperor also killed numerous women, children, and mages out of fear of a takeover (fucking bastard), and this should not be forgotten. Both committed deplorable acts, but her actions stemmed from avenging her lost family, the only people she truly had by her side. This chapter provided insight into her life—a much-needed perspective—showing that she wasn’t inherently evil and that she was once a sweet little girl who was harmed and pushed into a difficult situation. I hope the FL can remove the stigma surrounding witches and give them the respect they deserve so that future female mages do not have to endure what Anita experienced, in this empire.
