Secret Contract With The Black Duke - Chapter 4

Okay… okay, I’m honestly baffled. She said she was “confined” in that room, which—by the way—was full of many old books (her own words). And you’re telling me that, while she was stuck there alone for who knows how long, he just comes back, files a fake report about “everything being under control,” tells her she’s so “useful to her people” (which she clearly isn’t), and then leaves her alone again… with all those books? And she never even touched one? Not once??

Like, what was she even doing in there all this time? It’s not like she had anyone to talk to or anything else to do. She literally just sat on the bed waiting for him. Meanwhile, she had a wall of books sitting right there, untouched. And don’t even get me started—he didn’t even bother clearing them out. That’s already dumb on the villain’s part. But even dumber? She didn’t check them. Not once did she go, “Huh, maybe I should look through this stuff.”

And the journal—oh my god. He literally left his journal out in the open, the first page saying “I want blood” xD. And you’re telling me she never once looked through his desk? For all we know, it could’ve been sitting right there even before she died because he’s careless, but she’s too stupid (correction: the writing makes her feel stupid) to take the opportunity and at least learn something that might help her survive. Where’s her basic survival instinct? Where’s her situational awareness?

Like—the art is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong. But the plot? So frustratingly dumb. No offense, but she drives me insane. I just want to shake her and yell, “Girl, this man doesn’t even age right! He looks like he’s in his twenties, but he could easily be your dad’s age. And when he put his hands on you, that didn’t set off alarms?? Really??”

Honestly, I’m tempted to drop this—it’s just not my cup of tea. I’ll admit, I clicked on this for the ML, so I’ll at least see how he turns out before I decide whether to keep going or not.
