Ok just a guess…that man is emperor and he and FL meet at academy and emperor fall for her…former Duke got to knew about this and made her go bankrupt and bought her to use her as emperor weakness….former Duke died before he could use her…. emperor said some things to keep her safe so Duke family don’t just discard her(or may kill her) and that build some misunderstanding and now here we are she is grand Duchess.
