yeah it’s an interesting question, what did the cardinal do to ensure isabella became cesare’s queen, but also. he is obsessed with taking away alfonso’s things. he only pursued ari in this life after assuming she was alfonso’s woman.
so like yeah it could be another big scheme (since that is what this author does) but have u considered: he is sick and unwell in the head

Another point to add is that Cesar isn’t someone who is fooled by looks only. He knows and understands a fake personality one hides behind because he himself is no different🤔 it really is an interesting question what made Isabelle stand out so much
