The sister is actually the main antagonist in the series. He was right when he said half read. During the latter half of the novel Seollan tyrannically opresses the people and becomes a cruel and sadistic Empress. Seol Taepyong comes into play at this point as the frontman of the rebellion against the cruel Empress. Despite being the only brother of the Empress, Seol Taepyong is kind and helps people even if it inconveniences him.
