They keep calling her “young child”, but she looks more like a teenager or even a young adult in this chapter. Maybe they’re just calling her “child” because they think she’s an ignorant commoner? If not, that’s one tall adult looking little girl.

Exactly my thoughts. Is there some sort of sacred treasure inside so they can’t leave? Or is the whole building a family thing so they don’t want it to be destroyed?
