   I hate when media does this. Corsets were tight laced for nobility, sure, but they also were made of a bunch of different materials and were not tight laced for anyone that did stuff besides standing around. They also helped create the illusion of different body shapes! There were many kinds of corsets and they are actually really cool! PLUS they actually helped with the longevity of clothing. You see, you could gain or lose weight, but clothes could still perfectly fit with the help of a corset.
