Clearly y’all who are complaining about punishing the mom have lived a comfortable life without any struggles
I’d guess that the countess had been depraved of any normal family upbringings and was taught a manipulative concept of filail piety which is why she’d been willing to help her father despite clearly feeling reluctant, in the end she’s but a victim. The same goes, a child who lives in a violent environment grows to either be violent as well or be reckless, it wasn’t her decision to follow her father thoughtlessly but rather it was possibly instilled into her from the moment she could think properly. It’s, in the end, a product of manipulation ( kinda like how you’d constantly tell your child that there’s a lady who kidnaps kids who play out late and all of the sudden they’re afraid of the dark and sleep early)

I don’t think the mother deserve much blame. She’s a victim of her father as well, so the ugly trash deserves most of the blame. She could have done things a bit better, but unfortunately our brains don’t work the best when under stress, especially under the threat of losing your whole family to assassins.

Are you really reading this, or are you just stupid? I will ask you, if you were controlled by someone your entire life, and then finally fell in love, and then this person came back and tried to destroy everything, what would you do? Would you tell everyone what is happening, and now have assassins trying to kill your son? The mom did the right thing; she protected her kid by trying to show her distance, and then her father only tried to poison him after a long time. If she hadn’t done that, obviously her kid would have died soon. So don’t put the blame on the mom, stupid.

Personally the mother deserves to be punished yeah she was forced to do this or whatever but that isn’t really an excuse she was willing to confess as a contingency not because she thought it was right and she knew this would happen sooner or later if the mc wasn’t here the poor kid would have been killed too also I don’t really see what kind of blackmail her father would have to make her still embezzle while married to the baron having almost no contact with her in reality she chose her safety over her husband’s and justified it by going ” I am doing this to protect the kid and husband’s life” at the very least she should be imprisoned it’s not fair to say I won’t punish her for her crimes cause I like her
