The reason she stumbled when the female emperor told her to get up was she had been kneeling for hours. This is a political arrangement to try and lift the families status and get an in, in the inner palace. Yes she is a little girl and the Emperor is female and it is not hidden she is female. The Emperor is not happy with her family and she was unaware that they had sent a child. Not all “Concubines” were actual concubines. Some were political tools to tie families to the imperial palace and others were means to secure foreign or political marriages since it was a secure location. It was completely plausible that a concubine would be rewarded to a war hero or foreign dignitary as a wife.

Note: The Empress always received male concubines(like men of harem) from the Yuran family, but fl father decided to mock the Empress, so he sent his daughter as a concubine instead of his son:/
