Not every family has good history. Even if they did at one point, the things his brother has done now are probably things that are irreversible. So regardless of whether you’re coming from a “good” place or not, you shouldn’t force your own beliefs on him and try to make him reconcile with people he doesn’t want a relationship with.

Ok this is personal for me, but girl! If someone tells you that their relationship with their family is messy you do NOT have the right to stick your nose in it! You may have been lucky enough to have a family that got along but a vast number of people didn’t so don’t force people to get along with family when you don’t know what they’ve been through.
