Cleaning up those mistakenly created plot holes with the pearl huh. If Arthur was thinking like Arthur was originally characterized, he would have 100% given it to his Dad after getting back from the Asuras since he and Tess already got the free core upgrades. Especially when going to war and to protect his mom. Or even giving it to Ellie. Clearly they also didn’t want to overpower the Dad for whatever tragedy is coming up. We’ll have to see if he got any core level upgrades from it but for the plot convenience of Windsom saying “that would violate the treaty,” meanwhile Agrona gets to upgrade his troops as he pleases. Can’t have all their mages getting buffed to silver core huh. Not like they could have thought of shipping them months before the start of the war.
For all you future writers out there, there’s a rule in storytelling that characters and plot feel stilted when the characters are just tools to get from plot point A to plot point B rather than the plot being driven by the personalities, thinking, and choices of those characters. There is no world where Arthur didn’t give that pearl to someone else he cared about if he didn’t take it right away.
