Dude, this is a story in a backwards empire, that doesn’t mean we need to be sympathetic with backwards rethoric.
Raul is RIGHT, his mistress is good and her illness doesn’t make her faulty, and he knows her better than everyone so he has the authority to say it.
On that note, Ines is doing the right things for the future she wants to achieve, independence in a empire who won’t grant that easily to women, and trying to hide two lifetimes worth of trauma (marital rpe, family betrayal, death of love ones, and two scides)
