I am guessing that the Moon Maiden is the actual villain in Tenmari. I was really suspicious why The World Tree, being an object associated with the sun would have a Moon Maiden and not a Sun Maiden. Maybe the Moon Maiden is the reason for Magical beasts to exist and she is also the the object that is needed to control the magical beasts. Since the demons with their high magic affinity and ressistence to mind control was a threat to the Moon Maiden and her plans, she would have brainwashed the humans, who were easier to manipulate, and made them believe the demons were evil.
