They changed a bit from the novel, he was anxious that she might leave when she stabed him , when he finally found out what she wanted he used that to confirm their relationship by promising her the throne, at first she didn’t think she loved but she was drunk on her power basically being turned on by him being subservient to her , their first-time together after that was basically femdomy , then after he wanted to lead the attack but she ordered him not to because he was injured , like I said first she was thinking of using him then getting red of him if he got annoying, then after facing the possibility of losing him , she was thinking that he has to be hers forever and that it’s his fault that he devoted himself to her , she does notice the change as well , although she enjoyed it at first she missed him being aggressive and proactive she noticed that he was still anxious, but after she gave birth he became more secure in the relationship and more pushy specially since she had a very difficult birth , he stood up to her when she was doing things to compromise her health , even taking care of stuff behind her back , sometimes he is even more brutal when dealing with things that might harm her , finally she opens up about her feelings and tells about sometimes she wakes up thinking of how he could of died when she stabed him and how she would have missed on all this , but she doesn’t know what she would do if she went back and had to choose between reinstating her families legacy and her relationship with him , he said it’s OK she didn’t have to choose, then she tells him she loves him for the first time , after that she was the one to propose and she didn’t Wait for his answer she said she was the queen and he has no choice and that how it ends ,
Ps nightmares are big part of the story, she doesn’t like to sleep without him because when she is with him she doesn’t have nightmares, that’s why when he thought he was dying he said I would visit you in your nightmares, in his inner thoughts he ment that he would chase her nightmares away even if he died.

I’m not sure about everyone else, but now that we’ve reached the end, it feels strange how much Baltan’s character has been diminished since Claire took the throne. He’s become so stiff and dull. I get that he’s trying to be respectful and regrets his past behavior, but he almost feels like a completely different person.
