So someone wanted the sword to find its way onto her hands. Since she devours the massive amounts of bloodlust and malice that have stagnated within the sword, after the previous users killed and died, with a body reinforced by mana. Which means she will become an unstoppable killing machine, who will grow stronger with each kill further feeding the remnant bloodlust and malice inside the sword’s vessel. Only after she has killed everything that she can see will she stop accumilating further bloodlust and malice and start expending the bloodlust and malice that has already been collected. That is why it took her two more years to regain her real self free from the sword’s influence. I don’t think the sword itself is a bad or cursed item, its just that it has some dangerous attributes that could be harmful to average swordsman or even swordmasters.
