I still like the novel better, how the scenes were written. The Lady Yeon in this is a more emotionally charged romantic. And she wasn’t supposed to be here, she should already be returning to her homeland (leaving the female bodyguard with cheonma) along with the others who attended the martial arts summit(?)…and cheonma should be deducing where the rest of the half-jiangshi group after he went to the location of the trap. following them to the river as he was being greedy he wants to devour all of the spiritual energies. He doesn’t care about the martial artists or whatever, he just wanted the unli “food”.
Anyways, I should just stick reading the novel as it’s funnier and lady yeon is much more likable and her misunderstandings are funny. She didn’t slap byeok/cheonma at all, she was more cool headed. She noticed in the fight in the river that her female bodyguard is now stronger than her so she decided to stick with cheonma. She was also one of the strong people defending their convoy.
