@Sacrashin, apart from what @viseriod mentioned,
what Airen did during those 5 years of solo training was just that—training. If peers at a similar level also train and exchange verbal advice, they can improve faster too. The discomfort may stem from applying expectations based on other manhwas where MCs grow explosively, making their strength feel unrealistic. But here, it’s more about a friend pushing past their limits to help another, which is grounded in reality and can happen in real life too.

She’s starting to become an demonoid from what they we saying. He senses demonic/dark energy coming from her. Her sword is full of malice and hatred. This is why he NEEDS to defeat her. To put her down a different path.

Kinda weird that Ilya was able to widen the gap between them by that much, considering Airen was able to close the gap during the academy arc so fast despite Ilya’s talent.
Also, I thought his dream world training was super effective (not even mentioning the training he did since waking up), but since he lost almost all sparing matches against Judith after they reunited, it seems like it was actually rather bad and basically only gave him the power to summon his sword.
Personally I’m not a fan of these developments, but I guess he will finally overtake Ilya after this arc.
