   I said it folks. The entire Tonier family are monstrous. Not just Mary, and Luis, I think the father is also quite a formidable figure as well. The fact that Baron Tonier was granted a title by Claus means that Mary and Luis were not born nobles. The became nobles after their father was granted a title. They probably had a very cutthroat life in the beginning, and thatnks to that, both the siblings grew up to become quite formidable people.
