Obviously unlikely to happen bc this is a book about Evelyn, but realistically a potentiality. There will be speculation however she’s introduced, and she could save the royal house some damage. Not very pragmatic for a Queen.

Evelyn needs a proper title of she’s to join society, which is the only way the queen can publicly interact with her. If the sister was a male regent, he could raise her higher, and more legitimately with less threat, but they both have “black marks” against them that put them on more equal standing.
If her claim was known, Evelyn would by eyed to marry into a high dukedom with history and be used to usurp the throne. Her illegitimacy quickly forgotten/scrubbed by the marriage party.
The sister honestly should have waited until Evelyn’s child was born, because if it’s a male, the same problem arises. If it’s a girl, she can make a non-threatening marriage for her with someone loyal to her.

I understand the empress or queen whatever, Money and fame can get into good people’s heads, so empy can feel insecure about her if she is no longer humble after losing the insecure maid mentality.
