I got really excited about this series & went to read the novel! It’s now one of my favorites!
It’s a bit confusing as to why Otis put his hands around Irenea’s throat. He was flirting with her! We missed the part about Otis asking if she liked his face! heehee He was showing her the technique, yes, to scare her a bit. He got up close & just randomly asked if she knew how to strangle someone. It was an excuse to get to touch her neck & stir up a different facial expression from her. But the context is lost. You can read this in ch. 9! 😉
