   I haven’t read the novel. I have only read until chapter 20 in manhwa. I would say the obsession part is nice but the plot has so many holes so far! It looks like the author doesn’t understand how human emotions work. I don’t understand how and when the obsession started from the ML and the emperor. Secondly, it was so weird to me to see the FL thinking about marriage and other things during the funeral. It seemed like she was attached to her family and loved them but the author portrayed her unfairly dull towards her father’s death during her father’s funeral. I think it lacks smooth development, emotional connection.

   Almost all of the characters have complex emotions and thoughts. There are no good people here, just regular people who manipulate others and don’t want to be manipulated by others. So basically just regular people.
   The only real “bad” character is the emperor. He is a literal madman, probably even a psychopath. His thoughts and emotions make no sense. He is even contradicting himself at times. Unfortunately, since MC has dealt with him for the better part of a decade, she is also a bit unhinged. She is an unreliable narrator. If she thinks she’s doing something right, when she reasons it out we (the readers) can see that she’s wrong about that. We can see that because we are normal people with normal brains. Her brain is fried from dealing with that emperor for eight years.
   It’s nice to read a new different manhwa like this, but I think it’s best to stack chapters. This is a story with lots of talking. Sometimes it can feel like nothing is getting done.
   Also this is a warning but this story is a character-driven plot not a story-driven plot or a plot-driven plot.
   That means the characters are the story. So when two characters are talking, that’s it, that’s the story. There’s no grandiose thing happening in the background, it’s them and their emotions, desires, conflicts, all of that just interacting. But these character’s emotions keep you on a knife’s edge and keeps you guessing. It’s a good story.

   Review as of Chapter 15:
   The story overall is pretty good. The author took setting elements from existing stories but adds some good variation so it feel pretty fresh. The character writing is pretty good and the dialogue flows well.

   The ML is actually good. He makes a pretty dumb decision in the very beginning but has a justified reason for it. So far, he seems like a good character that will get more interesting as the story progresses.

   As for the FL, there is nothing likeable about her. Although she is a victim of the emporers schemes, she’s also a manipulator. She’s been working for the emporer against the person she “loves” for 6 years. On top of that, her actions directly caused bad things to happen (not gonna spoil what) and she blames ML for it…. wtf is that? He didn’t fucking do anything wrong. She plays the victim card way too much for someone who’s an offender of manipulation.

   If the FL gets off scot-free, I’m going to be so pissed. She shouldn’t get a free pass for manipulating the ML and changing the original story. I know its a romance so she probably will but they should make this into a “regretful FL” story

    I read up till 20 chapter. ML is not a trash at all~ I think FL is worse than ML lol. All details are explained later from FL & ML POV so yeahh just don’t trust review that doesn’t read pass 15 chapters 😆 this story is good. There’s plot twist that I didn’t expect at all

    Anyway. FL and ML both EQUALLY emotionally manipulated eachother. Theyre both scummy people being coerced to do so due to the Emperor. Avoiding the accountability of female characters is just as misogynistic as hyper-policing their actions.

    I never understand comments like this. Just say you dislike the story…? A story with angsty/tragic elements doesnt make the story trash, it just means its not your taste.

    Just like how a fluff story isnt inherently good. The content itself could be bland, undeveloped and lazy.
