From a reader’s standpoint – yes it seems crazy that she’s still there when she can just GO HOME. But at the drop of a hat, her whole life changed. She’s at least debating and asking herself what she’s doing and why she’s still here.
For those confused about what’s going on – the prophecy seems suspicious. She’s trying to slowly figure out what’s really going on. There’s more to it than just her revenge. Also her brother is truly the best! Voicing his concern for her but also respecting her decision. He wants her to rest but knows she more than anyone deserves to uncover the truth. She’s closer to everything and it’s easier to get into while being at the palace. If she were to go home, it would be much harder or even impossible.
