Two things:
-first, the setting is likely 19th century (the typewriter Erna discovers is good indication), early 20th but no later. A period in which royalty was not supposed to show emotions, but control them, hide them, and preferably country first. So judging Bjorn through 21th century eyes si a bit so-so.
-second, as I grew tired of the criticisms, I read the LN…. Which is well written, AND you get to have both Erna and his point of view. Things are more complicated than they seem.
Spoiler (little): he ll come to acknowledge his wrongdoings and change but it ll take a bit… Erna will change too.

I wonder how he’s gonna weasel out of this one. If he’s seriously going to be shameless about it and she accepts it, then she’s a whole new level of stupid overly empathetic FL.
