She shouldn’t be classified as stupid but as a women trying hard to heal from a broken life and love. In her first life she grew to love him, even if not as her significant other but as someone she could heal and grow past trauma with.
Also, Ian was suffering from PTSD so at that moment he couldn’t even think straight so it’s understandable why he reacted as such even though it doesn’t justify the way he treated her.
Please, try to look at their situation from both their perspectives because even now she loves him and cares for him no matter how stupid it may seem.
