Dungeon raid!!! That’s just my guess for why he would need mercenaries, his knights he brought are not enough assuming he knows what is inside the dungeon. Also about confidentiality, his knights are trustworthy, I don’t know about the mercs. Even under a contract, things are bound to go awry. Maybe they will “underestimate” MC just like in many other cliche stories where he “shows” them who is boss.
