I got say: those doctors who analyzed the epidemic 20 years ago were really STUPID, bro!!
I’m not a doctor, but it’s so obvious that an air contamination definitely wouldn’t cause severe diarrhea like this! To not say it’s impossible, it could in a sepse scenario, which is uncommon and too specific to affect so many people at once. Guts are one system and respiratory are another! They rarely mix!
Knowing this simple fact, it’s easy to deduce that the case must be an infection that affects the small intestines, who are responsible for absorbing water, minerals, regulating body hydration and temperature… so, the microbes that cause the disruption of the small intestines’s function, MUST have a oral-fecal life cycle: that means they’re only capable of infecting through deglutition. This means, only by eating or drinking something contaminated. In this epidemic situation, it does make more sense to be water contamination, cause it’s the faster and most effective way to spread out microbes in a big city area in high-scale. I would guess that this may be cholera bacteria (one of the most dangerous oral-fecal bacteria) or any similar one, which cycles in water and cause severe diarrhea, leading to death pretty quickly if not treated well.
