Additionally when trying to get information out of a reluctant source asking unrelated questions can get them in the rhythm of answering before they decide if the information is classified or not so when you do throw in a question you know they might not want to answer they may start to tell you anyway before they remember “oh wait that one was supposed to be secret!” However the Emperors assistant realized what was happening and stopped answering even her seemingly innocuous questions preventing her from getting further intel out of him.
