(Long Ahh message incoming💀)
I don’t think it’s unrealistic at all. Even people without powers but with authority and money refuse to help people who they have the power to help. Not helping someone just because you don’t want to is pretty normal. Furthermore, his reasoning makes sense, if anything I think that rather than having some kind of hero complex and trying to be captain save a hoe all the time, him being reluctant to help because this is just too sudden and has too many risks is the natural reaction. Plus, in the end he always helps/does his best to help even if it means risking his own life/body. I think the reason anyone would get mad is because they just are used to mcs always immediately accepting things the moment someone or something says “hey, you got this power kid. Go save the world” like bro just yesterday he was a normal kid going through his own struggles and now everyday someone or something is trying to kill him and/or his friends, give him time bro.
Sentient
It’s understandable that he prioritized himself cus that’s how humans are but still like, wtf? You know what they did, how evil they are, how they could harm people around you, yet you refuse to help because you just want to live a normal life? What normal life when you have the power of a god in you? So like it’s understandable but unrealistic, might as well help people if you’re gonna get involved with spirits anyway. Now he’s still pathetic & selfish, so i guess his ancestor & his power will change mc to a better person… Hopefully….
