Rune as a character is awful. Don’t understand how people think he’s so ‘sweet’ – he’s a red flag all the time in the way he’s presented.

It’s not cute and sweet to kidnap someone against their will. To keep harassing and grabbing and touching them when they tell you no and to go away. To keep pursuing them even though they continuously reject you.

And the worst part? He knew she was new to being human, therefore couldn’t run away, and purposely put her into a situation where she had no choice but to go along with his demands or else fear being eaten and lacking in the power to defend, run, or otherwise protect herself — and he was PROUD of it. He enjoyed toying with her like she was his prey, and it’s the same reason I don’t even like Ahin all that much either; this author really seems to think that someone having their words constantly ignored, their feelings and desires ignored, and the inability to communicate to speak up for yourself while constantly under duress and threats to be “amusing”, “comedic” and “funny”

Ya’ll want the reason so many of us hate him? Because he doesn’t actually care about what Vivi wants or feels for at all; he’s selfish and lacks ambition and only wants her because of his own novelty puppylove. COULD be sweet? Idk, Author won’t give me a chance to see him as anything else but a sexpest/stalker/manipulator/selfish prick yet. How about ya’ll Rune lovers tell us why ya’ll like him to begin with? Because I simply don’t see it the same way you do.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this is trash or anything. But my hopes were really high after hearing all the praise about how good this manwa was and seemed to constantly be mentioned in the comments of other manwa’s as if this is the golden standard…. but IMO, being brutally honest, I find the tropes overused. The gimmicks got old 40-50 chapters ago. The story isn’t moving anywhere very fast. There’s no clear goal or direction other than the rinse repeat formula – Rabbit gets closer to Panther, Panther pulls away, throws fit and goes loner, Lion shows up, constantly chases Rabbit, becomes weird forced ‘love interest #2’ in order to force Panther and Rabbit to confront their growing feelings for each other. Rabbit and Panther get closer. panther pulls away… etc. etc.

It’s slow. It’s formulaic. It’s lacking in direction. It’s slow and drags on. It reuses the same tropes, tricks, and situations too often. I see a lot of room for improvement as far as creative writing and storytelling goes. But the art is pretty, the characters actually get development, and it’s certainly a lengthy one… if I was looking for more stories to be able to binge, this one certainly fits the bill…

…But I’m gonna be honest, this has been a bit of a slog, and a total let down of my expectations as far as my enjoyment goes. I keep getting bored of it and having to come back later to ‘get myself’ to read the rest because of how deep in I am by now — too invested to stop now. But as someone who can, will, and does absolutely HOOVER anything and everything, it’s unusual for me to get so bored of something so frequently. I kinda hope it picks up the pace or changes up the episodic formula going forward from here.
