Novel’s version was so much better. Hopefully they will hint something in next chapter, but if not, here’s a small summary.
In it, they both go into the basement and MC gets spooked by many previous duke portraits (ML’s and his dad’s picture weren’t there). One of them had ruby eyes (nobody had previously noticed it but original Seria really likes gems so she had keener eyes) and after pushing those was opened a secret passage in basement (she almost fell in but ML holded her😊). In the basement’s basement (lol) was absurd amount of wealth, constellation material and all previous duke portraits. Apparently, it turned out that ML’s father tried to hide all the duchies secrets (like the ripped out pages of books) so ML could never become a proper duke and so ML’s fathers portrait with many other recent generation duke portraits were in the basement’s room while ML’s wasn’t and that made ML very mad. While both of them were exploring that place, on MC’s hand sticks some unrecognisable fairly big black thing (it’s the thing what was calling MC and also that black stuff was the source of mould, later on it turns out to be the circlet but here that circlet is already perfectly clean and calling MC to it) and so large amount of MC’s power bursts out what makes her unconscious and poor ML starts to freak out. And after that she wakes up bundled up in carriage like right now.

In novel there was set a spookier atmosphere. If I remember correctly, ML at first was explaining that everybody thought that he was crazy because nobody else heard that rattling chain sound, the sound of only appeared at night for a brief moment and he could never find it (MC could track it down because she is more sensitive to divine power and could point out that it’s in basement.). Poor duke in past ended up thinking that it was part of his imagination. MC also got scared of portraits thinking their ghost so she was not having a great time. At first ML wanted to go in vault alone but MC didn’t let him so then he understood that she is scared and only then they were holding hands and going together. And also, vault was super creepy because it was decorated with fake skeletons.
Some other details. The vault was completely clean without the black mould because all the black mould was sticked around the circlet. It seemed like it was trying it’s best to hide its divine power but failed, MC is too sensitive for those cheap tricks.
Also, If I’m not mistaken, then that the wealth underground was so absurd that it would be possible to buy a whole palace, but here it looks kind of plain. I think that those mages wanted to find that secret place and wealth but here their actions don’t really make sense because everything is simply on display. Even the circlet in novel was hidden among the constellation stones.
