You both make good points. It really just comes down to what kind of person she was bc everyone reacts differently

You wrote one yourself, you might as well read it if you had the time to type all that lol

…god damn. I know I write a lot but this girl wrote a damn essay 😭
Judging by the flashbacks, I think the mother was not having postpartum feelings, but who knows. Father said that when the mother looked at him, she was suffering.
If what you said is correct, then the mother wouldn’t be silently condemning her fate, rather, she would be a little sad, tearing up a little, or whatever since her emotions is still not under control.

I wonder if the situation wasn’t helped by postpartum feelings? I know emotions can get amplified for some/most after giving birth, and even with him there, she most likely wouldn’t have been able to get the proper help she needed. From what he said, she seemed to actually care about them, so maybe she left because she felt some resentment towards them start to grow, and she didn’t want that. So she did the only thing she could have done at the time, and just left? As for not coming back, she would have not been able to get proper support still, and probably would have focused on her training and work. If eventually she started feeling different toward them, it would happen way slower, so she would probably feel like too much time had passed, and the guilt would have been too much, she would have felt that she didn’t deserve to join the family again, she could have thought that staying away was the best she could do for them?
.
Or I could just be too optimistic lol
But idk, there’s not much about her, and I don’t know if there *will* be more about her later.

I’ve started being more empathetic towards (some) mothers in these series, the world isn’t built to help them, and postpartum depression, anxiety, anger, etc. usually ends up being overlooked and ignored, they’re always expected to give up on their own lives entirely in order to raise any children, mostly on their own. They’re seen as crazy or unfit mothers when the stress gets to them or the child misbehaves in any way. I know the dad here isn’t like the other fathers/husbands, he seems to be an actually good guy, but there’s limits to what one person can do to help, especially since he was still working, and education on postpartum seems to be practically non-existent in this world (by the way they see/treat women, I doubt they care enough about the mother’s mental health to actually study anything, only caring about women being about to give birth.) so he wouldn’t even know any signs. Most cases, it just ends up being a tragedy for both parents and children :/

Your mother was just shitty
