Well, her new dresses are definitely more ‘Coco Chanel’ than ‘Rococo’. If you want flouncy 1700’s princess vibes then the 1920’s weren’t for you–they were pretty much focused on getting as far away from corsets and the silhouettes they were meant to create as possible. If they weren’t doing flapper fringe and little black dresses, they were doing “nautical”–in other words, sailor suit chic.
Now, my great-grandmother would later agree with you–she would come to view her own *wedding dress* as little more than unstructured underwear.
Still, I think the point of Marso’s style here is to project simplicity, comfort and practicality (lighter, looser, functional skirt length, warm shoulders, fuzzy bathrobe belt)–not exactly the antithesis of attention-seeking, but definitely a different set of principles.
Plus I think the kind of beading that made 20’s styles fancy and blingy would be absolute hell on a manhwa budget.
