I think jeremia had a mana burst when he descovered he can use magic and showed it to his mom. That is how the mother git injured on her back protecting jeremia. And i think they erased his memory but jeremia retained some and his memory jumbled up. That’s why in the previous chapther while the mother is on the bed injured talking to the duke said. She shouldn’t tell anything specialy jeremia. I’m thinking so that he doesn’t blame himself of what happened. And the mother went to some place to recuperate while pregnant with loretta.
Just a guess… The mother has magical powers which she kept secret but when she got pregnant with Loretta her powers went out of control and nearly killed Jeremia. The baby she meant to kill was the one she’s carrying at the time – not Jeremia. He misunderstood.
