No? It’s meant to show the complexity of even evil people. They have their own struggles, their own worries- and yet, they are still *evil*.
It’s not meant to make you feel bad for them, but rather to identify with them long enough to understand that if you made the same bad decisions, you would *be* them.
If you didn’t mean this as a jab at the story itself, and you were just expressing a feeling, then ignore me. But it sounded like you were saying it was bad to show this scene for the story.
But if you didn’t have these moments in stories, you would never understand the motivations of the bad guys and they would become mustache twirling ‘just cause I’m bad’ types of characters, which isn’t great.
Sometimes people can just be bad. Like Zenos from FFXIV, but he too has his own reasons for being ‘just plain bad’. It’s meant to make people confront the worst in themselves and acknowledge that *evil* people, are people. They aren’t monsters. They are the baker down the street who smiles at you every morning.
They are your mother.
They are your cousin who came to bail you out at 3am so you wouldn’t have to tell your parents about some trouble you got into.
Every evil person is usually good to someone. They have their own worries and troubles and people they want to care for and protect. That doesn’t make them less evil or mean you should feel badly for them.
Everyone always expects evil to *look* like evil and that’s why they can never identify it when it’s right in front of them.

Because I don’t feel sorry for her at all. She’s the one who chose to align herself with him in the first place. She knew what he was like. She’s reaping what she sowed.
