The Empress poisoning the Emperor is an annoying plot point in every story that uses it. It’s such weak and poor writing. As if no one is loyal to the Emperor?? This has happened irl for example King Louis and they figured out his mistress was trying to poison him. It’s crazy not a single person would check what the Empress is giving him. She definitely has power but she’s not above any of his sons in terms of power when the monarch is sick. Only in Korean based dramas do they gloss over that fact.
