Other than that, I thought it was a common sense not to leave important/precious stuff unattended in the car.

I am not familiar with their work so I just wonder if it is normal to leave evidence in the car without any cover, out open for people to see? It felt like such a stupid mistake when he is handling such a sensitive case. He was an experienced lawyer, not an amateur. Felt like author just did it for the sake of adding challenges to him, but it felt forced.
