This. I was having a conversation once–I don’t remember most of the content except for the one flagrant lie amidst all the little twists–but I have a vivid, visceral memory of when they stopped blinking. In hindsight, they’d been blinking very rapidly before then. With this person it was often hard to tell if they were gullible, lying to themselves, lying to get attention, or straight up disconnected from reality–but that one. That was a fully intentional, harmful lie, designed to triangulate me against someone else.
I think *my* expression must have completely frozen at that point because they got very flustered after that–back to blinking and just saying ridiculous things.
