   The higher nobles around him pressured him to remarry and that witch and her brat was who he ended up with, he’s an absolute spineless push-over.
   I also don’t think his 2nd wife wanted him either, but I supposed with a kid she had little in the way of options.

   What was the reason the dad got the step-mom? Did he love her? Did he need it to solidify his position? What? For now it seems like its just a thing for the story to have an antagonist and feels forced and not well thought out. Its just it seems like the step-mom and daughter are not done right and the dad seems to be ignorant and absent to keep them around.
