@EvalleB I didn’t read the raws but from what I know about Korean culture, you may be right about this. I went back to look at the chapter and it certainly feels that way.

I’m not sure because I haven’t read the raws but I think when mother-in-law appeared, that b*tch ex-friend spoke rudely to her. She was using informal speech, which she shouldn’t have done because mother outranks her. B*tch is a duke’s daughter while mother is a former title holder of “Grand duke”, which is obviously higher than b*tch’s. That b*tch is just so used to surrounding herself with sycophants and throwing her money around that she is probably not used to someone like mother (someone who outranks her). Mother had that surprised face so she was probably surprised someone spoke informally to her, but she just showed it to pass.
I’m not sure because I didn’t read the raw, but I think it might be the case. This is one of those things that doesn’t translate because it’s more of a cultural thing. Usually the translator should put in a little note or something.
If someone has read the raws, let me know.
Oh, and that mercenary said that he bowed his head but in actuality it was MC who bowed her head. You can see it in the chapter. Sometimes possessive “I” can sometimes mistranslate as “you”. Again cultural reasons I don’t want to get into. But it’s usually up to the translator to catch these little quirks and fix them for coherency. It looks like this translator didn’t do that.
Also, that b*tch got in one last dig but it just looked so childish and pathetic.
